Film & Media students from South Staffordshire College have created a prize-winning ad for Araldite®.
Asa Jones, Sophie Harvey, Danielle Fleming and Ben Winterton, who study at the College’s Lichfield Campus, teamed up to produce the ad which was entitled ‘A Girl’s Best Friend’.
The ad weaves a realistic application for Araldite adhesives into a story line about a day out for five friends – but with a twist at the end that left the judges laughing. It is the culmination of a project sponsored by Araldite brand owners Huntsman Advanced Materials which involved five teams of first year Media & Film students at the College creating and producing ads to ‘pitch’ to the business.
Vicki Parry, Commercial Director of Digital and Design agency Tregartha Dinnie, which set up the project between South Staffordshire College and Araldite, presented the ads at Huntsman’s European Corporate HQ in Basel, Switzerland to a client panel chaired by Jean-Luc Pieau, Marketing Manager for DIY & Channel Management.
He commented; “We were genuinely impressed by the students’ ability to produce original and funny ideas that still managed to communicate the product’s strength and versatility. The ads ranged from the inventive to the irreverent and we will be featuring extracts on our www.go-araldite.com website.”
Chloe Hawkins is the lecturer at South Staffordshire College responsible for marshalling the students’ efforts. “This project has enabled first-year students to get an early understanding of how to produce creative ideas against a timetable and against competitive pitches. We have a mission here to equip our students so they are ready for work alongside teaching technical skills and creative thinking. This project has all those elements and I’m very proud of the group.”
